Description
This item is a SolderX brand hand wired point to point harness designed to give the user clearer tone by limiting wire run lengths. This gives the user less resistance between the pickups and the output jack. SolderX is a new company powered by 30 years of guitar industry knowledge.

’50s style guitar wiring—connecting the tone pot to the volume pot’s output—primarily offers improved treble retention when reducing volume, a more transparent, brighter tone, and highly interactive, responsive controls. It is ideal for players who use their volume knob to clean up overdrive, as it prevents the tone from becoming muddy at lower volumes.
Key advantages of 50’s style wiring include:
- Reduced Treble Loss: Unlike modern wiring, the treble frequencies are preserved when rolling back the volume knob, preventing a “muddy” sound.
- Increased Transparency & Clarity: The tone is generally brighter and more articulate, particularly on the neck pickup.
- Improved Responsiveness: Volume and tone controls offer a smoother, more gradual sweep, making it easier to blend sounds.
- Better Overdrive Control: It is easier to transition from high-gain, thick lead tones to clear, sparkly, low-volume tones by simply adjusting the guitar’s volume.
- Less Interaction Between Pots: Turning down the tone control does not cause as drastic of a volume drop as seen in modern wiring.
- Versatility: While associated with Gibson, it can be applied to any guitar with a volume and tone pot to enhance high-frequency retention.
This wiring harness should be grounded to your guitar by utilizing the bridge ground and/or body ground wires that should be on your guitar from the factory. If you’re building a new guitar from scratch then you will have to source some 22 gauge ground wire.
